KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB), still the second most deadly infectious disease in the world. KNCV is an international center of expertise for TB control that promotes effective, efficient, innovative and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context. We are an organization of passionate TB professionals, including doctors, researchers, training experts, nurses and epidemiologists. We aim to stop the spread of the worldwide epidemic of TB and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.

Over the past century we have built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise, initially by successfully controlling TB in the Netherlands. Since the 1970s, we have also shared our knowledge and expertise with the rest of the world. We operate from a central office in The Hague in the Netherlands, a regional office in Central Asia and country offices worldwide. KNCV raises funds from private, institutional, corporate, and government donors.

KNCV is the lead partner in Challenge TB, the USAID-funded 5-year global project to decrease TB mortality and morbidity in high burdened countries. We lead an international consortium with eight partner organizations. The overarching strategic objectives of Challenge TB are to improve access to quality patient centered care for TB, TB/HIV, and drug-resistant TB services; to preventtransmission and disease progression; and to strengthen TB platforms.

Challenge TB transmission project

The Challenge TB transmission project is entitled: Quantifying effect of interventions on transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This Core Project aims to do an impact evaluation of USAID-supported TB control interventions in several countries. This project will last 4 years and has a complex combination of stakeholders, including KNCV, funder, Challenge TB coalition partners, other international partner organizations, in-country implementers, national TB control programs and a Scientific Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE).

Purpose of the position

The Portfolio Manager transmission project contributes to the effective management of Challenge TB Transmission project. The PM ensures that the project is executed at the highest possible quality, while adhering to the agreed contracts, the needs and requirements of the funding agency and KNCV policies, in close collaboration with the scientific project leader and other scientific team members, as well as other support staff.

Organizational position

The Portfolio Manager transmission project reports to the Director Operations and coordinates the transmission project team.

Profile

  • As Portfolio manager transmission project you:
  • Monitor and report on the determined scientific milestones and deliverables of the projects;
  • Implement the planned project activities and meet internal and external reporting requirements within agreed timelines;
  • Administer project finance timely and transparently in close collaboration with the Finance and Control department;
  • Adhere to relevant donor regulations;
  • Monitor procedures and processes to ensure smooth project implementation;
  • Maintain financial overview / budget monitoring;
  • Make optimal use of available funds;
  • Coordinate project related logistical arrangements and procurement;
  • Conduct risk analyses within the projects.

Who are we looking for?

Education:

  • PhD or Masters’ degree in a relevant field.

Knowledge/experience:

  • 5 years working experience in scientific and administrative project management in an international context;
  • Knowledge of project management, as well as techniques, software and tools;
  • Experience with financial management of projects;
  • Demonstrated full spoken and written fluency in Dutch and English required;
  • Excellent computer software skills - Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint);
  • Proven interest or experience in (global) health research (preferred).

Behavioral competencies and skills:

  • Organizational ability and eye for detail;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Understanding of cultural differences.
